There are two ways for you to obtain a regular driver's license: one is to go to a designated driving school and another is to come to the driver's license examination office to take a driving test.

Please follow the procedures below.

If you fall under the following two categories, you are exempted from a written test so you take only an aptitude test.
- People who already have a first class license of other type of vehicle want to take a test of a first class license except for a moped and a light special equipment; or
- People who already have a second class license of other type of vehicle want to take a test of a second class license In this case, time for test application is from 8:45 a.m. to noon and from 0:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at both the Kadoma Driver's License Examination Office and the Komyoike Driver's License Examination Office.

• Temporary driver's license
• A driver's license for other types of a vehicle if you have
• Number 1 and 2 below if you don't have any other driver's license or your temporary driver's license expired.

1. A copy of a residence certificate containing a registered permanent domicile (nationality for foreign citizens)
2. Any identification including health insurance certificate, Basic Residence Registration card,passport, student ID or company ID

If you finished a driving school outside Osaka Prefecture and don't have any other types of drivers license (except for a temporary drivers license), you need a copy of a residence certificate containing a registered permanent domicile (nationality for foreign citizens).

• Certificate of Driving School
• One photograph:
  A full-faced, head-and-shoulder photo with no hat on against the plain background that was taken within the past six months:
  Size of a photo is 3 cm ×2.4 cm.
• Writing utensils：
  Number two pencils (HB), an eraser, a ball-point pen
• Glasses if you need
• Fees

• When your driver's license was revoked or rejected, or you were prohibited from driving with your international driving permit for more than six months but you didn't attend a lecture for drivers whose license has been revoked, you are not qualified for an examination. However, if you obtained a new driver's license (except for a temporary driver's license) after revocation, you are qualified. If you have an illness, you have to report your condition or symptoms so that we can judge your competency to drive safely or not.
• Personal information such as permanent address or driver's license number is recorded into the IC chip of the driver's license. Since this is very important information, a security code number is necessary in order for us to prevent unlawful use of the personal information. Please prepare two sets of a four digit security number when you come to apply.

After passing all four examinations, you must take a lecture for drivers with a driver's license of a regular passenger vehicle and a lecture for emergency relief activities

Those who are older than 18 years old and have a present address in Osaka Prefecture

An examination consists of 50 questions in the alternative form or in the right and wrong fore to judge if you have enough knowledge to drive a vehicle. (30 minutes) You must have more than 90 % of correct answers to pass the examination.

If you have a driver's license for heavy special equipment, large-size motorcycle or regular-size motorcycle, you are exempted from a written test.
